Church of San Jose

It seems it was built in 1731, although its finishing touches continued until the following decade. It was built as an annex to what was the palace of Captain Joseph de Mendiola who was to donate his residence to the Company of Jesus to install a college in it, and today disappeared.
It is highly likely the church was erected following the drawings of master Martín de Zaldua and in its execution intervened masters of great renown like Joseph de Yturbe, Joseph de Lecuona or Ignacio de Ibero, the latter are also related to the construction of the Basilica of Loyola. It is considered one of the greatest works of religious Basque baroque.
