Main altarpiece
It is arranged in five lanes and four slots; in elevation, a bench and three levels. The entire structure is protected by a duster. Above this splendid architectural structure, an extensive iconographic programme unfolds, which focuses on the passages of the life of the Virgin Mary and her relationship with her son Jesus Christ. The scenes present a motley composition with an abundance of characters and frequent inclusions of anecdotal, picturesque details of the late Gothic style. Even though the records do not clarify the history of this monumental altarpiece, we can venture that it was carved in the first years of the XVIth century. The carvers remain unknown, but it is known that the polychromator was Juan García de Crisal.
